Who I am
by
nicholas ayoola oladehin
I was made in Britain
Born and bred
But lived my life through
Waving my green and white flag
Ace-ing my pace
Through thick and thin
I swam with the sharks and feasted with the eagles
And I marked my boundary
Where I alone was king
I’ve felt the bee sting
And the mosquitoes awful song
And I’ve dined and wined with my grandma
From the black clay pot
Am addicted to Africa
Home: Motherland
I’ve travelled through the forest
And swam through the sea
I’ve maintained my position
In the midst of great men
Am glad am black: am a born Naija
