THE ROCK CALLED JU'
by
nicholas ayoola oladehin

i call her by name
for she hails from motherland
richly endowed
and of ample height.
she indeed:
a giant in disguise
sends the shivers through my spine
as i ponder on random thoughts
all scattered in my head.
as i look for a way
to tackle this task
am confused the more.
many have crumbled at her feet
many have fled for dear life
many have begged to be set free
many have turned back half way
many have tried and failed
and tried over and over again
many have begged to be let lose
from the clutches of her embrace
i have admired this massive rock
i have climbed to its peak
i have experienced its climax point
i have laid at its feet
and dined at its table
i have cherished, loved and adored it
in my own little way
i long for home far away
and i long to go climbing
for its been 4moons past
since i set eyes on thee
a rock i'll climb over and over if i can
a rock of awesome view
